Extinction Slot Review

The Extinction Slot is one that is set in the days of the dinosaurs, featuring such characters as a T-Rex, Pterodactyls and Raptors. The Meteor which will eventually wipe them out also features in the game, which is a bit of a bummer for the dinosaurs, but probably lucky for us. This game is powered by Odobo Software.

This is not the only dinosaur slot to hit the headlines recently, the big question is how does this match up to MicroGaming's Jurassic Park?

In this review I start by detailing the basic gameplay of the slot and the options you’ll find when playing. Moving on I look at the feature of the game, describing how it is activated and what you’ll win. I finish with by looking at the pros and cons of the slot before I recommend an online casino where you can enjoy the game with some extra benefits.

Extinction Slot – the Basics

Extinction slot review Obodo

This slot is something of a standard 5 reel slot, which features 20 different win lines. The number of win lines is customisable so you’ll be able to play any number between 1 and 20 lines at a time. You’ll also choose how much you’ll want to play for, with a minimum limit of 5p per line up to a maximum of £1 (you can also play in Euros and Dollars at some casinos), meaning the maximum cost of a spin is £20.

Some symbols will win you more than others, although not being a Paleontologist, there might be some misnamed creatures in this review! The Tyrannosaurus Rex is the best symbol in the game and you’ll gain 250 coins when landing all five. The Triceratops and what might be a Diplodicus are worth 80 coins, and the Allosaurus, the Stegosaurus, the Pterodactyl and the evil Velociraptors (have you seen Jurassic Park?!) are worth 40 coins.  The final two symbols are a dinosaur carcass (or it might an insect!) and a large moth-like dinosaur and are worth the least at 20 coins. All wins are paid from right to left when landing consecutive symbols, with prizes for landing at least 3 for all symbols.

The game also has a wild symbol. This is a dinosaur Skull and will replace any other symbol in the game apart from the scatter symbol.

Extinction Slot Bonus Round

The scatter symbol in the game is the Meteor – somewhat appropriately as I am guessing that is exactly what the dinosaurs did when the Meteor appeared! If you land this symbol three or more times across any of the reels you’ll activate the free spins round. The standard amount of free spins is 8, however should you land the scatter symbol 4 or 5 times, you’ll gain 12 and 20 spins respectively. During the free spins a meteor shower will hit, making additional symbols wild and this is an added bonus.

Extinction Slot Pros and Cons

On a plus note this a very nice looking slot with very smooth gameplay. The game also features a soundtrack that fits perfectly, building up a little bit of tension, as well as the occasional dinosaur noise. The game has a couple of nice touches – the meteor shower for one, and the fact that the slot will shake after landing the first two scatter symbols in anticipation of a third. This game is perfect for the type of player who wants a straightforward slot, without being interrupted by a bonus game or a long drawn out feature.

On a less positive note, this game doesn’t offer much variety at all. Apart from the basic gameplay and the free spins, there is nothing more to the game, so for those who will play a slot specifically to achieve that bonus feature, the interest in this game won’t last too long, despite the added meteor shower in the free spins round.

Extinction Slot – Device Compatibility

Being a Slot powered by Odobo, you’ll be glad to know that the game is developed in HTML5 meaning that the game is available on pretty much any device you want – simply play the game in the browser of your mobile device.
