Media Folder: How and Where to Play Sic Bo Online
Sic Bo is a casino game that is played using three dice which is particularly popular in Asia. When playing for the first time, the game can look particularly complicated, the massive range of betting options making the betting layout look incredibly crowded. However, having played just a few games, you’ll quickly realise that the game is very straightforward and also very addictive. The literal meaning of Sic Bo is ‘Precious Dice’ and you’ll hope they remain precious by hitting the right numbers.
In this guide I start by explaining how the game of Sic Bo works. I then move on to bet types and the payouts at the game and detail why some bets are better than others for your pocket. I finish the article by recommending an online casino where you’ll be able to enjoy Sic Bo.
Sic Bo – Basic Rules
When playing Sic Bo you are gambling on the outcome of a dice roll featuring all three dice. You’ll be able to place a bet of any size on any part of the layout, just as long as the bet is within the table minimum and maximum. The options are wide and varied when playing Sic Bo with betting on virtually any combination of the three dice allowed. The odds you receive will differ dependent on which bet you place – these odds being detailed in the payout table.
Sic Bo – Bet Types and Payout Table
In this section, I’ll describe each bet you’ll be able to place, the odds you’ll receive on that bet and the size of the house edge (the larger the house edge, the worse for your bankroll).
Number Bet – This bet (shown on the bottom line) is one where you hope to see your chosen number appear on at least one of the three dice. You’ll receive 1 to 1 if the number appears once, 2 to 1 if the number appears twice and 3 to 1 if the number appears three times. The house edge on this bet is 7.9%.
Dice Combinations – This bet requires you to choose two numbers, and for the bet to win you’ll need both of these numbers to appear across the three dice. You’ll receive odds of 5 to 1 if both numbers appear and the house edge on this bet is 16.7% (some sites will pay 6 to 1, lowering the house edge to just 2.8%).
Three Dice Totals – Here you’ll be trying to predict the total of the three dice added together, with betting available between 4 and 17 (3 and 18 are not included as you’ll be able to bet these in the 3 of a kind betting section). Each total has different odds which are shown on the betting layout and will vary between 6 to 1 and 60 to 1. The house edge on these bets range from 7.4% to 15.3%.
Big/Small – These are even money bets where you’ll predict whether the total is either between 4 and 10, or between 11 and 17. However, should a treble appear, your bet will lose. The house edge here is 2.8%.
Specific Doubles – Here you’ll nominate a specific paired double (1-1, 2-2 etc) and if the number does indeed appear twice, you’ll win at odds of 10 to 1. The house edge here is 18.5%.
Specific Trebles – Here you’ll bet on a specific number appearing on all three dice (1-1-1 or 2-2-2 etc). This has the highest payout in Sic Bo, with odds of 180 to 1. The house edge here is 16.2%.
Any Treble – Here you are hoping that a non-specified number will appear on all three dice. This pays out at odds of 30 to 1 and has a house edge of 13.9%.
Sic Bo Overview
Sic Bo is a fun game that gives the player many different betting opportunities, much like roulette in this respect. This game does differ from roulette however, in the fact that the house edge will change dependent upon which bet you place. This edge can become extremely large in certain instances, so ensure you are aware of this and aim to reduce this edge by sticking to those bets where the edge is at a minimum.
