Slots Software Houses Which Provide Games to US Friendly Casinos
The offshore casino industry is enjoying a boom as we go into 2020. Slots fans now have a good choice of casino operators which offer slots from many different software houses. While the titles of giants like MicroGaming and PlayTech are still restricted, there are some excellent titles coming through from BetSoft and Rival – and the solid Real Time Gaming range to enjoy. In addition, you’ll find some smaller outfits starting to benefit from the new mobile and browser based delivery of the games.
This page gives you an overview of the main slots software available at US casinos. I have started with the ‘Big US 3’ and then covered some of the better niche providers. At the end of the page you can see where to find each of the slots software covered.
US Slots Software – The Big 3 Providers
These are RTG, BetSoft and Rival Gaming. All of these are specialist software houses which make casino games and the back end software to manage online casinos. Instead of offering their games direct to players, these companies license them to the operators who deal with the player side of things.
Real Time Gaming US Slots
Known as RTG, this is the single biggest provider of online slots to US casinos. Their range is getting big, with more than 150 titles (some are getting dated, though at least half make the cut). These slots are mainly 5 reel video titles, with wilds and free spins rounds. They are a little ‘blocky’ and retro looking compared to some of the latest creations elsewhere. To balance this is top quality game play, with many of these games having a lot of dedicated fans. There are progressive jackpots which drop randomly – independently of what is on the reels.
I recommend you check the ‘reel series’ titles first. These include Aztec Millions, Mid-Life Crisis and Shopping Spree.
RTG power many of the biggest brands out there, including the single biggest US casino www.bovada.lv (part of the Bodog family)
BetSoft US Slots
When it comes to mobile slots, 3D effects and amazing animations – BetSoft titles are the ones to play. These look different to any other slot games. They are often likened to animated movies from Dreamworks or the latest gaming console titles. Most are based on 25+ line video slots, and almost all of them contain break out bonus games and interesting things happening on the reels too. Big wins are possible, thought the progressive jackpots tend to be smaller ($50k range, though some do go over the $100k mark). Many of the titles have been brilliantly adapted to mobile phones too. For more detail and a list of games, check this article.
There are a lot of great titles to pick from, Greedy Goblins is excellent, Mr. Vegas, 2 Million BC and Good Girl – Bad Girl are also worth a play. Drake Casino has the full range – as well as selected titles from niche provider Arrows Edge on top – check them out at www.drakecasino.com
Rival Gaming US Slots
Rival complete the big 3, and with their own unique take on the world of online slots. This US friendly slots provider are known for their ‘Storyline’ titles known as ‘iSlots’. The idea is that you progress through a story in each game, unlocking different bonus rounds and features as you go. There is even a mini soap opera combined with a slot, called ‘As Reels Turn’. This is already in the 3rd generation. It sounds cheesy, though is actually very funny to play. There are many more games besides the flagship reel series games. These include 5 reel video slots, plus 3 reel games which are colorful and themed.
Plenty to choose from in the Rival Gaming range. I recommend As Reels Turn, and also ‘The Back 9’ which includes playable golf holes as bonus rounds.
Smaller / Niche US Slots Suppliers
There are several more software houses which also supply slots for US players. Some of them, for example Soft Swiss, supply only BitCoin casinos at the moment. A mid-sized company is DGS (Digital Gaming Solutions) which is more focused on the sports betting platform market. They do produce a range of slots and table games for US casinos too. These titles are solid enough, though basic in terms of both the graphics and the bonus features. BetOnline.ag offers these games.
One upcoming software house is called Arrows Edge. They have a small number of slot games (around 40) which do remind me of the RTG titles a lot. These have colorful themes and are very nicely put together. At the moment I have Arrows Edge marked more as ‘One to watch’ than a must-play – though the titles do make a refreshing change from those of the big 3. You’ll find these games alongside the BetSoft titles at Drake Casino.
Top Game are moving over from Bingo and Casual gaming into the world of slots. Their 5 reel titles are already showing a lot of promise, though for me they lack the bonus games and in-reel features to make them too interesting for now. Top marks for game-play though (and you’ll still have the potential for decent wins and free spin rounds). Try ‘Reel Gangsters’ as a solid starting point.
WGS are better known as Vegas Technology. This is a fully fledged casino software provider with many years of history and slot titles which have a lot of fans. The reason they are in the ‘Smaller Providers’ list is that they no longer have the same reach as the big-3 mentioned above. Check out Black Magic or Vegas Party for an introduction to these titles.
