Detailed Review of ACR Poker on the Winning Poker Network
This US Friendly offshore poker site has a lot of history. While America’s Cardroom is an established name in their own right, it was once better known as Doyle’s Room Poker. That site was renamed after a certain poker celebrity pulled support after Black Friday. Since then, ACR has gone on to carve out 2 distinct areas of the US online poker market.
First, they are big on leader boards. There are two progressive prize pool boards, which award some big prizes based on the number of hands or sit n go tournaments played in a week. Second, ACR hold the biggest prize online poker tournaments for US players. These include regular $1 million guaranteed events and mini-festivals known as the ‘Online Super Series’. Top this off with a generous loyalty scheme and 100% bonus (up to $1000) on your first deposit and you’ll see why this site are so popular!
Money Matters – Bonuses, Incentives and Promotions at America’s Cardroom
Things start off well, with a 100% match to your first deposit, plus up to $50 ‘tourney bucks’ which can be used to enter anything on the MTT schedule. The matched bonus part is simple enough, you need to earn 27.5 points playing real money games for each dollar of bonus cash. Those same points can be exchanged for more bonuses later too.
Tourney bucks come via special cards you are given when you deposit a minimum of $25. You get to turn one over each day. This will reveal between $1 and $6 in T$ that you can use to enter special ‘Newbie MTTs’ (I’m sure you can guess that the fields in these games will be extra soft).
Progressive Leader Boards
Sit N Crush and ‘the Beast’ are separate progressive leader board contests. The progressive element works like this. The more overall games that are played by everyone, the bigger the weekly and monthly prize pools become. 50 players who play the most games (or the most hands for the Beast) will win cash prizes – which can be a great boost to your bankroll.
These are ongoing promotions, which sit alongside a lot more benefits including loyalty rewards, regular free tournaments, satellite qualifiers (especially when there are live and online events coming up) and many one-off or unique promos too. You can see the latest promos and check out those ongoing leader board prizes at www.americascardroom.eu.
Software and Game Selection at America’s Cardroom
I have to say that the software platform is basic compared to what many online poker sites are using these days. The big worldwide brands in particular are way ahead when it comes to animations and speed. Having said that, you can enjoy a game of poker without any glitches or lags – which is the main focus of 95% of us at least!
ACR are part of the Winning Poker Network. This is a group of sites which share their player pools on a common poker platform. This allows more games and bigger prize pools for tournaments compared to each brand going it alone.
As you would expect NL Holdem takes up the lion’s share of the tables. There are 6 and 9 player tables, and the micro-limits (up to around 10c / 25c blinds) are super-busy. You will find that action diminishes pretty smoothly above this level with $2 / $4 blinds the biggest regular games. Omaha does run in the different formats – though you’ll need to hit the US evenings to get a choice of games.
Tournaments have become one of the focus areas for ACR. They ran the first $1 million guaranteed tournament since Black Friday, and after this was a success now run these big buy-in events every 2 to 3 months. The satellite qualifiers running up to them are super-busy, players with all bankrolls get a shot at winning a seat in these.
The Online Super Series is a regular (again every few months) festival of bigger buy-in tournaments, often guaranteeing a couple of million when you add them all together. Again, satellites allow small bankroll players to take a shot at the bigger buy-in games.
Sit N Goes are busier than other US friendly sites, thanks to the Sit N Crush leader board. This does mean that you get players who multi-table them, making these games a little nittier than the same buy-ins elsewhere. New ‘Lottery’ Sit n Goes are worth a look. These are 3 handed games and played in a super-turbo format. The interesting part of these games is that the prize pool is randomly awarded after each game starts, this is between 2x and 1000x your buy-in.
Payments at America’s Cardroom
First up, this site has a good reputation for handling payments quickly and professionally which goes back several years. I rate them as very low risk.
For deposits, the usual route of trying your Visa credit card first is advised. These can get declined by US banks, though they also get through first time a lot more often than you’d think. MasterCard or prepaid Visa cards make a great backup.
If you are not able to deposit with your card, then you can always try money transfer services. Bitcoin is becoming a very reliable and fast option – filling the gap left by eWallet services.
Withdrawals are mostly by paper check. These will take some time, though banks accept them no problem at all.
America’s Cardroom Review 2017 – Summary and Next Steps
This solid and reliable site has a long track record, and deserves to be one of the most popular offshore US online poker sites. Their place in the Winning Poker Network ensures plenty of game selection and those big tournaments.
I particularly like the mix of bonuses, loyalty schemes, leader board and free tournament bucks you’ll get when you join.
